Machine-written summary

Summary written by Claude Haiku from the source advisory. Not reviewed by a person.

Http4s DigestAuth server middleware in http4s-ember-server versions before 0.23.35 for Scala 2.12, and versions before 0.23.35 or from 1.0.0-M1 up to but not including 1.0.0-M47 for Scala 2.13 and 3, is affected. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can make the stale-nonce cleanup remove fresh nonces, so the nonce map grows without bound and can exhaust JVM heap, causing a denial of service for any service using DigestAuth. Upgrade to 0.23.35 or 1.0.0-M47, depending on your release line. Rate limiting DigestAuth routes can slow the leak, but restarting periodically is only a temporary measure.
